A wonderful read from a women's perspective and a fantastic and inspiring book that takes you on a journey of learning how to pray the bold prayer that God always answers. The book was uplifting, inspiring and thought provoking. The author teaches us a simple way of praying that God will answer. One sentence in four parts found in the book of 1st Chronicles.I loved the real-life experiences she used to illustrate her many points. God does truly bless us if we will allow Him to open our eyes, heart and hands to receive all the blessings that He has in store for us. He will transform our life and thus enrich our relationship with Him.Since reading the book, I have taken up the challenge and made it an integral part of my daily devotional life.
I found this book to be insightful, though not quite as good as Secrets of the Vine (written by her husband, Bruce). Darlene Wilkinson gives the Prayer of Jabez a slightly different spin, putting her perspective on it. But beware of several items: 1) this is written from her perspective, so don't presume that all she says will apply or even make sense from yours; and 2) asking for God to enlarge your territory doesn't necessarily mean make you rich. I noticed a few other reviewers of Bruce Wilkinson's book thought that it meant make me rich. I took it to mean, make me more effective for Your kingdom, Lord, by taking me out of my comfort zone (my territory). Just as King Solomon prayed for wisdom and God, because He was pleased with his request, made him the richest king of all time, so with Jabez. The very same day I began my 30 day trial (I am still in it, by the way), God granted my wish by opening a position at my church for me to minister through serving. The Lord has truly blessed me through this prayer. It is 100% effective if you keep your eyes open and don't expect physical riches. For me, the riches I am seeking are those to be found in my eternal home. Though I'm not going to turn down any earthly riches if that is God's plan!
I read the parent book, The Prayer of Jabez, over 15 years ago, and have been praying the prayer ever since. I am amazed at how many people I run into who have also read and loved the book. I wanted another perspective, and as a woman, was drawn to this little gift. I highly recommend it for everyone who has struggled with wanting to live big for God, but had been discouraged. This will pick up your spirits and recharge your batteries. There are real life stories for real life women of all ages!
Since my friends know that I am a believer in the "Prayer of Jabez" book and prayer, a friend who found "the Prayer of Jabez for Women" book in a thrift store , bought it and quickly sent it to me. I was overjoyed to receive this gift. I was amazed that there were many areas of the prayer that I had not thought of. I am grateful that Darlene Wilkinson asked God to expanded her territory by taking the original book of Jabez and addressing the unique needs of women in her book. Since I have been mailing the original book to many friends and business associates, I had to order this book and mail it to some of the women recipients. Thank Amazon for carrying these books.
