This book is a collection of Hot Springs in California and Nevada. The descriptions of each spring includes a general description, location, best time of year to visit, restrictions, access information, water temperature, nearby attractions, services, camping information, and a small map with roads and landmarks for each hotspring.The general map in the front of the book gives you a general location of each spring so you can determine what might be nearby. This book covers approximately 80 different hotsprings spanning most of California and Nevada. The locations of the springs are fairly spread out along the entire Nevada/California border. Many of them are very remote and would require some adventuring to find. I haven't had a chance to go explore most of them yet, but this book seems very helpful. I've used a lot of different hiking books, and this one is definitely very well researched. I highly recommend picking up a copy. This is a great book and very helpful for finding remote and little-known Hot Springs. I had previously tried to find new Hot Springs by searching online but had little success. This book has detailed information and good directions on how to find the most remote Hot Springs.
Good for ideas, but outdated. We went all over NV to get to these hot springs, and more than half were a bust!
Lots of good information - They don't mention EVERY single hot spring (California & Nevada each have about 300 - and many of them are just warm mud puddles) and I would enjoy a more complete listing with information about flow, water chemistry, and SMELL. Maybe I should write a book??
