So many details are so right in this book, from the texture of the outer cover (and the map on the inside flaps) to the multiple ways of organizing the "adventures"... and it's well balanced take on getting kids outside while also encouraging them put their phones to meaningful use on the hike. The graphic design and photography add a lot to the text, which has a uniquely fun tone itself... appropriate for parents and teachers, and their younger "adventurers."
LOVE THIS BOOK, but if I did not know better, I would get lost looking for some of these sites. We live in Salem and the hikes that are listed for the Salem, Oregon area are over an hour away. I would have listed the actual towns instead. We have not looked into the other listings and locations yet. Is this consistent? I wish there were more Western Oregon hikes, I guess it just feels like the majority of the good hikes are in Washington which is a bit of a drive for our family.
This is such an amazing book! It's beautiful, practical and encourages families to get outside and spend time together. The tips are really easy to follow and the images really get you excited to go outside and start exploring. I can't wait to go through all 50 hikes!! I recommend this to all - whether you're an avid hiker -- or not (it will inspire you to become one)!
My 7 year old grands love a scavenger hunt, and where better than hunting the Pacific NW, where we live? Teacher inspired, well done. Thank you.
My kids love looking through this book as much as I do. It's very well organized! We have been to 2 of the places the author suggested and I feel her descriptions have been accurate so far.
This book is perfect for families hiking in OR or WA. There are excellent trail descriptions, scavenger hunt finds, colorful photos. Overall, a perfect little book to bring along on the trail, or discover a new trail to explore.
This book it great! It was a gift for someone but I flipped through it and it has fun facts and very detailed.
