I received an advanced copy for an honest review and let me tell you, it is one of the best fiction books I've read in a while.Reading How The Light Gets In by Jolina has been an adventure of twist, turns, and surprises. The way she writes captures the readers attention and keeps it until the very end. The whole book had me falling in love with Ruth and her girls, Sofie and Vi. I found myself crying with them, laughing with them, and mourning with them.You'll find yourself rooting for Ruth and her ever changing circumstances as she discovers who she is and how strong she really is. And that surprise ending... shew!Go ahead and hit that purchase button, you'll be so glad you did!
I absolutely believe that all women and even men need to get this book and read it. It is a fiction book but I feel everyone that values your marriages and feel disconnected with your spouse this book can make you want to reconnect before you are no longer able to because of death or some other reasonI believe Jolina Petersheim has written a book that could be a classic like "Gone With The Wind". And it would make a great hallmark movieThis book is a tear jerker. Yes, this book is fiction but I think it should be in a category that I have said before that they need to make. “Real fictionâ€. It is a modern day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz.I have only said this about one other book that I have read that is fiction, the next bridal shower I am invited to and the bride is a reader, I am going to include this book as part of the gift.I was given a complimentary copy by the author. I found myself on an emotional roller coaster while reading this book. From confusion to anger to deep sadness and loss to acceptance and eventual happiness at the outcome. How the Light Gets in is BEAUTIFULLY written with such vivid descriptions that I often found myself completely lost in the story. Jolina uses the powerful story of Ruth to illustrate the hardships and celebrations of marriage and motherhood. Definitely a must read!I received an advance copy in return for my honest review.
This story drew me in and didn’t let go until the last word. Jolina has a way of truly making characters come alive. From breaking my heart to making me rejoice, this was a spectacular must read.
This is a beautifully written book that brought about so many emotions. I went from heartache and crying to pure joy just by turning the page. This story stays with you long after you’ve finished the book and touches on so many applicable topics that many of us deal with. By far one of my all time favorites! I can’t recommend it enough! Thank you, Jolina, for writing it!!
I preordered this book and then also received an advanced reader copy from Jolina. Glad I have two copies—one to keep and one to loan out!Well, where do I start? My emotions were all over the place as I cried for awhile, then stopped to ponder precious nuggets of wisdom about marriage and relationships. Just when I thought the book couldn’t get sadder and that there could be no possible satisfying outcome for anyone, WHAM! A plot twist I NEVER saw coming had me nearly in the floor! It changed my whole perception of the book.The book is rich while not being over your head. Dig in and let Ruth’s story change your life.

How the Light Gets In by Jolina Petersheim was a book that had me tied up in emotional knots all the way to the end and even now, days later, I still am thinking about how it applies to me. You see, the book is much more than just a classic Amish love story. It is about commitment, about choosing the hard, about messy love, and most of all about honoring our marriage. After being married for 36 years, I can tell you that marriage isn’t easy, because there are those little choices we have to make every day that make our marriages either good or bad. Ruth discovered almost too late that it wasn’t only Chandler that chose the easy things. Ruth realized the part she played in their marriage and the love grown cold. I just hope Elam found happiness at some point. Here’s hoping for a sequel!
