I wish I had had this resource when I was in management. It contains some of the most practical advice on how to work with difficult people that I have encountered. This book is pertinent to "secular" management as well as "sacred" management. Whether one heads up a business, a non-profit, a church or a monastery, people are people and the problems one encounters for leaders of these organizations seem to be universal. The advice in this book is practical and down-to-earth. I can heartily recommend this book to all leaders. It is unfortunate, but seminaries teach people how to write good papers but do not really teach people how to lead.
The Art of Leadership is incredibly refreshing in a field of shallow books on leadership principles. This one develops not only leadership ability but really strikes at the heart of leadership, leading from a place of serving and substance. I am using it to develop our administrative team and had such joy encouraing my team that each person has a voice and is valuable.
Helpful meditations on leadership in business, family, school, and ministry. While the rule is not prominent, it has shaped the writers and their roles in leadership. As a result, lessons from the rule come through the stories and challenges to lead wisely.
This is the best book I've read on the topic of leadership. I appreciated the integration of Catholic character and spirituality, male and female voice, and educational application. One read is not enough.
